it is election day, which means today will be a day where i will cry, no matter who wins, smoke a pack or two of camel lights (fuck american spirits, times like these call for cancer extreme) and toss back way too much hard alcohol. i've been wringing my hands all day, and listening to the conversations of the fucking numbnuts assholes who i'm forced to live with at a more expensive rate than if i decided to live anywhere near an interesting part of this big, liberal city. most of their wasted oxygen was spent trying to figure out what any position outside of president meant. or what the point of a "proposition" was. this is what i get for going to a state school.
one of the only reasons i wish i were voting in san francisco rather than san jose is for proposition N, where SF is trying to make a declaration against the Iraq war (in very broad terms). san francisco's government thinks that if they put this initiative on the ballot and it passes, that maybe other cities will follow suit and make statements about international politics. i'm at a point in my passion for politics that the onion calls "outrage fatigue." there is way too much injustice and tragedy in the world for me to be nearly as affected anymore. i guess that makes me a cynic.
all i can say is that i honestly believe that our nation is in severe danger if george bush is elected for another term, and today is one of the most important days in the history of this country, and while i'm glad i get to see it, my stomach is flipping in utter fear.
